Extras & Additional Charges - Description and Pricing |
| Photographs |
15.00 each
Photographs must be screened in order to
print by offset lithography. The photograph charge includes reproducing, on one order of
business cards, a photograph with a halftone screen positioned according to your layout.
We normally scan photographs and create the halftones electronically. Like prescreened
art, final quality is affected by the dot structure of the halftone. Photos lacking
contrast between facial features, hair, clothing, and the background will not print well.
Production Requirements: To insure quality reproduction, we will make the
halftone from your black and white continuous tone photograph. Halftones can be produced
from color photographs, however due to lack of contrast in a colored photograph, we cannot
guarantee the quality of the halftone. NOTE: Photographs you supply should be no more than
three (3) times the size you want printed. Wallet size or smaller is preferred.
Thermography on halftones tends to make photographs appear coarse or mottled. To insure
quality reproduction, all photographs and halftones are examined by our Art Department. If
there is a problem, you will be contacted. WE WILL NOT assume responsibility for any lost
of damaged customer photograph. |
| Close Registration |
10.00 per unit
Close Registration is when any two colors of ink are
closer than 1/32 of a inch.
All color separations are done electronically. Stock logos are made to be printed in one
color, but can be changed to print in two colors. See Custom Logos below.
Limitations:
A. We cannot guarantee intricate registration between ink and foil.
B. Since ink and foil are applied on two different presses there is always the possibility
of slight movement between the ink and foil registration within a run. For this reason, we
require at least 1/32" (2 points) space between ink and foil copy on business cards. |
| 2nd Side Printing |
15.00 per unit on Raglan & Black Glaskote
50.00 per unit on Cambric Linen, Classic Laid, Concept Fiber, Astrobrights or other
Glaskote
Cards - discounts on orders of 2 or more units,
call for pricing
2nd Side Printing is printing on the reverse or back
side of a business card. Copy direction on the top of the 2nd side will be the same as the
top of the front side (top to top) unless otherwise instructed. When a second side card
has one side vertical and one side horizontal, the top of the vertical side will be on the
left edge of the horizontal side. 2nd Side Printing is available in 500 or 1000 quantities
with flat black ink.
The charge includes flat printing in black ink, any copy that could be printed on a one
color business card. The Logo section has 30 standard back setups plus 4 styles of
calendars available and ready to be printed. |
| Bleed |
12.00 Vertical per unit; 12.00 Horizontal per unit
A bleed is when the printed image extends off the
trimmed edge of a sheet or page. The bleed charge includes print extending off any horizontal edge (left, right, or both
edges) or off any vertical edge (top, bottom, or both edges) of either the front or back
of a business card. Example: A bleed covering the left and top edges of a card will have 2
bleed charges, 1 for horizontal and 1 for vertical.
Production Requirements: Artwork you supply for an image to bleed must extend
1/8" beyond the edges of the business card. Clearly indicate the areas which are to
bleed.
Limitations:
A. No full reverse cards except screens or halftones. We will not thermograph a solid
area more than 1/2 of a card.
B. Foil bleeds are not available. |
| Cancellation of an Order |
10.00 Thermographed Cards per unit
15.00 Foil Cards per unit
15.00 2nd Side Cards per unit
A cancellation is stopping your order and
taking it out of production after it has been started. The Cancellation charge includes
all work done on your order and other costs involved in locating and removing the order
from production.
NOTE: This charge applies to orders in production or orders pending proof
approval.
Production Requirements: To cancel a job, you must phone, fax or e-mail us before
the job has been printed or shipped. After you call, you will be told if there are any
charges for work done on the order. Do not contact us by mail to cancel an order. |
| Special Shipping |
Quoted per job
Special Shipping is any type of air
shipping method you select and any shipments made outside the U.S. or its territories. If
the address has a U.S. zip code, we can ship to it. If Parcel Post or Priority Mail is
requested, we cannot guarantee delivery. The Special Shipping charge will include the
amount of the charge by the carrier or shipping method of your choice and the extra
handling needed to process and ship your order.
Production Requirements: If proper instruction and payment are given we guarantee
to ship by the method you specify. We cannot, of course, guarantee timely delivery once it
is placed in the hands of the carrier. A street address is required for shipping by any
air or freight carrier (other than by U.S.P.S.). |
Changes to an Order in
Production |
6.00 Thermographed Cards per unit
10.00 Foil Cards per unit
10.00 2nd Side Cards per unit
If your job is in production, the service
charge includes locating your order, making the change, and returning your order to
production. An order not received or an order on hold but not printed, is NOT
considered in production. As with all changes, we guarantee to make the change
if the order has not been printed.
Production Requirements: You must phone, fax, or e-mail your change request so
your job can be taken out of production quickly. Some changes may be too complex to take
over the telephone and we will require you to provide new written copy, but you must
request the change by phone, fax or e-mail, not by letter. |
| Additional Proofs |
10.00 each
This charge applies to orders that require
additional proofs after the two proofs allowed in the base price have been reviewed and
changes made. There is never any charge for correction of errors made by us. We will
contact you concerning any questions or clarity of instructions on a proof, either faxed
or electronically submitted. |
| Minor Art Rework |
15.00 to 30.00; you will notified of charges before
production
Minor Art Rework is touch up and other work
done on customer supplied or stock art.
Examples:
1. Reversing type by setting the type as white letters centered on a colored
background.
2. Addition of type to art.
3. Making a change and/or combining one or more pieces of art to make a logo using your
original or stock art.
4. Color separation (separating two colors and making a new file.)
5. Setting type on a curve.
6. Rearrangement of artwork.
Production Requirements: We must have and original piece of artwork in order to
make alterations, but not a pencil sketch.
Limitations:
A. Fine type styles are not suited for reverses.
B. Occasionally there are intricate logos that we are not able to color separate because
the 2 colors are intertwined. A Custom Logo will have to be created. |
| Custom Logos |
30.00 and up; you will notified of charges before
production
These charges include the time required,
scans and production of your custom logo.

make alterations, but nor a pencil sketch.
Examples:
1. Cleaning up art by removing faint lines, fuzzy parts, filling in gaps, etc.
2. Complex deletion of parts of a logo.
3. Separating copy and art as necessary to meet ink/foil standards on complex art.
4. Reverse color fill and knock-out.
5. Addition of type to complex art.
6. Creation of art from pencil or other type of drawing. |
Production Tolerances
& Variations |
QUANTITY
VARIANCE: Due to stock variance, thermography coverage, and amount of copy, the
number of cards which fit into a box can vary. Our normal production practice is to run 20
extra cards per order (to allow for samples, etc.). This means occasionally either not all
the cards will fit in a box or a box will not appear completely full even though the
correct quantity was printed. Normally, we give credit for minor shortages.
SQUARENESS/MARGINS: Our production methods are designed to ensure a
competitive price while maintaining commercial quality standards of squareness and margins
within a run. Cardstock widths can have a maximum variance of plus or minus 1/32" (2
points). Likewise the margins can have a plus or minus variance of 1/32"
(2 points).
PAPER COLOR VARIANCE: Due to manufacturing inconsistencies, there may be
slight color differences in dye batches in some stocks and between orders.
RECYCLED PAPERS: Recycled paper meets E.P.A. specifications for recycled
paper. As with all recycled products, paper imperfections and color/finish variations from
run to run are to be expected.
REGISTRATION TOLERANCE BETWEEN INK AND FOIL: Since ink and foil are
applied on two different presses, there is always the possibility of slight movement
between the ink and foil registration within a run. For this reason, we require at least
1/32" (2 points) space between ink and foil copy on business cards.
BORDERS:
1. On borders that bleed, the area remaining on the card must be at least
1/16".
2. We cannot be responsible for exact registration of double borders.
3. Double borders which include one ink border and one foil border are not available. |
